sollbruchstelle

There have been lots of documentaries on precarious work situations lately.
Eva Stotz’s Sollbruchstelle is one of them, and yet very different. Images of a tired crowd,
making its way to work in the morning traffic, confronted with shots of a flock of sheep in the mist.
Eisenstein’s montage of attraction filmed in numbness.
Where did it go, the dignity of the working man? Stotz
interviews Stephan, strapped on a billboard in order of a electronic concern.
She listens to Franz,
describing his professional decline, trembling. Then again the camera stops in the job center whose hyper friendly motivational courses can’t stop the great depression either.
A film poem about the sadness of modern men. Witty, caring, wonderful.
